Basedow's disease

A period eponym (after Karl von Basedow) for what is now usually called Graves' disease or exophthalmic goiter, an autoimmune thyroid disorder; Chekhov, himself a physician, uses the diagnosis matter-of-factly of his patient Olga Schwarz.
