An invented given name and patronymic built directly from the ethnic slur "zhid" (Judophobe/Judophobovich), attached to the real editor Stanislav Okreits as the closing, most savage joke of the card list -- Chekhov names an actual antisemitic journalist by turning his own bigotry into his "Christian name," using the slur as a weapon against the man rather than as incidental color.
