Count Koltovich

Koltovich

also: граф Колтович, Колтович

A neighboring landowner whose grove, pond, and estate lie between the Ivashin and Vlasich properties and recur as landmarks through the story; his pond is the site of the eighteenth-forties killing recounted by Vlasich in section 86, and Pyotr Mikhailych rides past it again alone at the story's close. Koltovich himself never appears in person -- only his name, attached to the land.
