Zinaida Mikhailovna Ivashina

Pyotr Mikhailych's twenty-two-year-old sister, an unmarried young woman of the local gentry who has left the family home to live openly with Vlasich, a married neighbor whose estranged wife will not grant him a divorce; lively, self-possessed, and something of a liberal in her own right, she meets her brother's visit with composure rather than either defiance or the abject remorse the family expects of her.
