Lumpenmak
also: лумпенмак
An invented dentist whose mock-German surname advertises foreign training he may not have; the entire parody trade-card is built on his one act of "showing the public his teeth."
Reading notes
- Dentist Lumpenmak §1 Lumpenmak
An invented surname with a mock-German ring, the sort of foreign-sounding shingle a Russian dentist of the day liked to advertise as a mark of superior training. The whole piece is a parody trade-card: two lines of boilerplate in which "shows the public his teeth" collapses a dentist's practical demonstration into the sole extent of his practice.
