The actor Roman Apollonsky, already established in this corpus (see's headnote, where Chekhov approves his casting as Dr. Lvov,, in the Petersburg "Ivanov"). This flat sentence is the letter that CONFIRMS and settles the casting question left as a live ambiguity in and -- whether Apollonsky (or another actor) would end up playing Lvov versus Lebedev (the separate, unrelated supporting role also in "Ivanov").
