German caricaturist and poet (1832-1908), creator of Max und Moritz, whose picture-story style was widely imitated and pirated in the Russian humor press; Palmin wrote captions for a book of drawings after Busch, and Chekhov separately complains of a Moscow pseudo-artist, Konden, passing off his own drawings as Busch's.
