Georges

also: Жорж

A young student from the manor estate in Chekhov's novella "Peasants" (Мужики, 1897), called "Georges" by his two sisters: he rides up on horseback to help fight the Zhukovo fire, climbs the burning frame with the workmen, directs the hose, and afterward gives Sasha twenty kopecks. Distinct from the unrelated "M. Georges" of Chekhov's "Imeniny".
