Kuvshin

also: Кувшин

Named only by the short form/nickname "Кувшин" ("Kuvshin," literally "jug/pitcher") among those seeing Chekhov off as far as Troitsa on his day of departure for Sakhalin; not independently verified against a public-domain source and not otherwise identified in this corpus. The form is plausibly a nickname current in Chekhov's circle -- conceivably for Sofia Petrovna Kuvshinnikova, a close friend of Isaac Levitan, who is named in the same sentence -- but the source text gives no patronymic, gender-marking, or further detail to confirm any such link, so no identification is asserted here.
