Kuzovlev

An educated exile who had played a prominent role in the real Taganrog customs-house corruption trial and died in poverty in Tomsk not long before Chekhov's journey, cited by name in \textit{From Siberia} Ch. VII as a real case illustrating the ruin of "unfortunates" in exile -- a biographical link to Chekhov's own native city.
