Sabashnikova

also: Сабашникова

A woman connected to the editorial or financial affairs of "Severny Vestnik," mentioned only by surname; Chekhov reproaches Pleshcheyev's circle for letting her go to Anna Mikhailovna Yevreinova ("that monster") rather than waiting for him, adding facetiously that he would gladly have "married" her for the journal's sake. Distinct from the unrelated, male publisher surname "Sabashnikov" known elsewhere in Russian literary history -- not to be conflated.
