Son-Lyuli

A Chinese fellow passenger sharing Chekhov's cabin aboard the steamer "Muravyov" on the Amur in late June 1890, who tells Chekhov that in China even a trivial offense can cost a man his head, gets heavily intoxicated on opium one night, and later sings from notation written on his own fan; called Son-Lyuli here and, a few days on, Sun-Lo-Li -- the same travelling companion under Chekhov's two renderings of the same name.
