Tatyana Alekseevna

Shipuchin's wife in Chekhov's "The Anniversary" ("Юбилей"); arrives straight from a trip to her mother's, still in her traveling clothes, and insists on narrating -- at enormous, digressive length and entirely oblivious to the anniversary deadline ticking around her -- a rambling anecdote about flirtations on the train, her sister Katya's broken engagement, and a suitor's melodramatic (non-fatal) suicide attempt at a party, none of which she will be talked out of finishing even as the office descends into chaos around her.
