Early-to-mid nineteenth-century Russian novelist, cited by Shamokhin at the start of his own narration for a remembered exchange in one of Veltman's tales ("Now that's a story!" / "No, only the introduction to the story") that Shamokhin borrows as a framing joke for his own long confession.
