Tatyana Repina

Chekhov's own one-act drama "Tatyana Repina" (written and privately printed 1889, dedicated to A. S. Suvorin), a sequel/continuation of Suvorin's earlier play of the same title: set at the Orthodox wedding of Sabinin -- Tatyana's former lover, implicated in her death by suicide in Suvorin's play -- to a new bride, Olenina/Vera, during which Sabinin is tormented by visions of the dead Tatyana and the ceremony is interrupted by a second woman's on-stage poisoning. NOT to be confused with Suvorin's original play, with the historical actress Yevlaliya Kadmina whose death inspired it, or with Pushkin's Tatyana in "Eugene Onegin" -- three distinct "Tatyana" references already tracked in this corpus.
