Letter · 1892

To A. I. Urusov, 31 January 1892. Moscow.

А. И. УРУСОВУ, 31 января 1892 г. Москва.

Headnote

dateline, a brief invitation, and the closing. Dated 31 January 1892, from Moscow.

A short, hurried note to Prince Alexander Ivanovich Urusov, the Moscow lawyer and literary-theatrical critic, asking him to call that same evening and to send word back on the note itself. Chekhov mentions he is leaving town on Sunday, which lends the note its urgency.

Dear Alexander Ivanovich, if you can be at my place this evening, reply on this same note. I leave on Sunday. I’m waiting to hear from you.
Многоуважаемый Александр Иванович, если можете быть у меня сегодня вечером, то ответьте на этой же записке. В воскресенье я уезжаю. Жду у Вас.
Yours, A. Chekhov.
