- The Malefactor §41 Article 1081 of the criminal code
Статья 1081 Уложения о наказаниях уголовных и исправительных (Article 1081 of the Code of Criminal and Correctional Punishments), the Imperial Russian statute penalizing deliberate, knowing damage to a railway that could endanger passing trains -- the very knowledge requirement ('and the perpetrator has been aware of it... that this will lead to a disaster') the magistrate spells out and that Denis, however guilelessly, cannot be made to disclaim.
