A dressmaker/corsetiere's-shop name Tolkachov must deal with by catalogue number (No. 82), fetching vinegar essence and a corset for her among the day's errands. The same figure (spelled "Chansot" there) appears as an errand-list name in Chekhov's 1887 story "One of Many," the play's close source.
