An old hieromonk, once steward to a diocesan bishop and now a guest at the Pankratievsky Monastery, who has outlived eleven bishops he served under. Perpetually dissatisfied and blunt, he is the one person who speaks freely and naturally in Bishop Pyotr's presence.
