An old friend of Yegorushka's mother Olga Ivanovna, living modestly with her granddaughter Katya in the town where Yegorushka is to attend the gymnasium; Kuzmichov arranges, for ten rubles a month, for Yegorushka to board with her, and it is in her house, weeping after Kuzmichov and Father Christopher's departure, that the novella ends. A fictional character of "The Steppe," not a real person.
