A character in the same Suvorin story draft as and. Chekhov judges her motivation unclear as drafted and advises Suvorin to make her love Vitalin jealously and know of his past affair with Varya, so that her nighttime visions of Varya's ghost become legible to the reader; not to be confused with the many other Natashas elsewhere in the corpus (e.g. character:natasha-rostova-war-and-peace).

A second character in the same draft, whose motivation Chekhov judges unclear as written -- he suggests this is because Suvorin tired by the end of the manuscript and didn't fully work her out. His fix: make Natasha love Vitalin jealously and know of his past affair with Varya, so that her nighttime visions of Varya's ghost become legible to the reader as jealousy-haunted rather than arbitrary.
