Pechorin

also: Печорин

Grigory Pechorin, the disaffected, emotionally destructive protagonist of Mikhail Lermontov's novel "A Hero of Our Time" (1840), archetypal Caucasus-set Russian "superfluous man"; named here in passing among the mixed literary references -- alongside Onegin and Kazbek -- that Chekhov says crowd his unnamed love-elopement story-in-progress.
