A St. Petersburg literary-theatrical club with its own box at the theater, abbreviated by Chekhov as "Лит И" ("Lit. and Art."); he imagines sitting there with Suvorin to hiss a bad play off the stage. Distinct from the Moscow-based institution:moscow-artistic-circle and institution:artistic-circle-moscow-theatrical, which are separate Moscow institutions.
