An unnamed naval officer, son of Baroness Varvara Ivanovna Ikskul, who traveled with Chekhov by rail from Vladivostok to Moscow on the final leg of his return from Sakhalin; Chekhov describes him as "a clean and honest boy" devoted to his mother.
