FICTIONAL CHARACTER in Chekhov's one-act "Tatyana Repina" (1889), a priest addressed by the archpriest in the play's closing scene, invited for tea (\S396, "Well, Father Alexei? Shall we go to my place for tea?"); the declining reply that follows at \S397 ("No, thank you, Father Archpriest... I still have a report to write") is contextually his but carries no self-identifying speaker prefix in the speaker-markup-stripped source, so it is treated as strongly implied rather than fully confirmed. Distinct from (a regimental priest in the story "Typhus") and from (a priest in an unrelated draft fragment) -- three unconnected clergy characters sharing only a given name across different works.
