The wife of Nikolai's brother Denis (away as a soldier) in Chekhov's novella "Peasants" (Мужики, 1897): handsome, strong, coarse-tongued, and openly content with the village's poverty and squalor in a way that sets her against Olga and Nikolai; she slips across the river at night to the manor stewards, is once stripped and sent home naked by "hooligans," and repeatedly mocks Olga and Nikolai as soft "Moscow gentlefolk." This entity's spelling follows the translation's normalized transliteration ("Fyokla," not "Fekla"); the source spells the name Фекла.
