Keeper of the Moscow bookshop (referred to familiarly as "Garshik's") from which Chekhov collected volumes of Polonsky's collected works in March 1888; a fellow countrywoman of Chekhov's from the same parts, with whom he sat talking for an hour, and who mistakenly wrapped up both the prose and verse volumes Polonsky had authorized him to take only the prose from.
