Gavrila

also: Гаврилой, Gavrila

A servant or messenger, evidently of the Chekhov or Kiselev household, sent after the fact to deliver the small change Chekhov had forgotten to give Nikifor; Chekhov jokes that the coins will get no further than the Kryukovo tavern. Not otherwise identified, and distinct from the several other Gavrilas/Gavriils elsewhere in the corpus.
