Mikhail Ivanovich Glinka (1804-1857), the composer often called the father of Russian classical music, best known for the opera "A Life for the Tsar" and "Ruslan and Lyudmila"; jokingly credited by Aivazovsky as a co-author of the latter in one of the painter's tall tales about his acquaintance with the great and famous.
