A Kharkov student mentioned by Alexander Ivanych as a brilliant, well-known figure among the student circle that took him in -- said to have written clever articles in the Kharkov newspapers and to have been preparing for a professorship, and who advised him to prepare for the veterinary institute instead of the technical school. An offstage figure known only through Alexander Ivanych's admiring, possibly embellished account.
