Irodiada Yegorovna

also: Иродиада Егоровна, Ираида, Iraida

A Taganrog acquaintance who sent word she wished to see Chekhov during his April 1887 visit; recently widowed and bereaved of her mother, and about to remarry. Chekhov gives two possible forms of her name ("Irodiada" or "Iraida"), suggesting he was unsure which was correct. Not otherwise identified in the corpus.
