Yevlaliya Pavlovna Kadmina

Kadmina

also: Кадмина, Евлалия Кадмина

Real historical operatic soprano and dramatic actress (1853-1881), invoked in this letter only through the secondhand, admiring recollections of acquaintances who tell Chekhov he would have liked her; Chekhov reports he is studying her at second hand and finds her to have been a genuinely "uncommon nature." This letter's own text is limited to that admiring gossip and does not narrate her biography further -- in particular it does not mention her death or its circumstances; per corpus policy, the entity record notes the real-world identification (dates only) without importing unstated biographical detail such as her 1881 death during a Kharkov performance or her later association with Turgenev's "Klara Milich."
