person

Karolina Yegorovna

also: Каролина Егоровна

A woman to whom Chekhov compares the youthful appearance of Alexander Pavlovich Lensky's wife, and with whom the Chekhovs' mother seems to be striking up a friendship. Attested only in this one letter; not identifiable elsewhere in the corpus, and not to be conflated with the unrelated fictional. Left as a loose thread rather than force-identified.
