Alexei Mikhailovich Kondratyev. First documented in this corpus from (29 November 1891) as the intended recipient of a bill forwarded by Chekhov via Lensky on behalf of the late V. P. Begichev's son-in-law, Golubev -- Chekhov did not have his address, and the note's register there is purely transactional. An earlier letter (22 February 1891), addressed directly to him as "Dorogoy Alexei Mikhailovich," shows a warm, informal relationship: Chekhov asks him to use his pull at the Moscow box office to secure tickets to "The Proposal," then adds unrelated domestic chatter about a planned Babkino excursion. The two letters are not in tension -- the later note's cold, logistical tone is adequately explained by Chekhov simply lacking his current address by November, not by a more distant acquaintance -- and the shared full name and patronymic (no other Kondratyev in the corpus carries "Mikhailovich") together with the consistent Moscow-theatrical milieu (box-office influence, reachable via the actor Lensky) support treating both letters as the same man; first_appearance below reflects the order in which this entity was documented, not the letters' chronology. Distinct from the several other Kondratyevs in this corpus -- Ivan Kuzmich Kondratyev, I. M. Kondratyev of the Society of Russian Dramatic Writers, and the unrelated figures at and -- with no patronymic overlap to confirm identity with any of them.
