Ivan Nikolaich Koshelkov

A doctor who saved the life of his young patient Sasha Smirnov; receives an indecent antique bronze candelabrum as a gift of thanks and, unable to keep it in a household with children and lady visitors, passes it along to his friend the lawyer Ukhov, only to have Sasha triumphantly present him with a matching second candelabrum at the story's close.
