Krysin

An engineer who directs the "Krandel Sons" iron foundry by the pond; introduced in the story's final section chiefly to establish his nephew Ivan, the poet whom the mad carp later mistakes for Sonya and infects with pessimism. The surname derives from крыса, "rat."
