Kiryak's wife and the mother of six surviving daughters (of thirteen children born) in Chekhov's novella "Peasants" (Мужики, 1897), correcting this entity's earlier provisional summary, which described her only as a minor letter-writer: in the real novella she is a major figure, terrorized by her husband's drunken beatings, befriended by her sister-in-law Olga, and left alone in Zhukovo weeping when Olga and Sasha finally leave for Moscow. In the discarded draft continuation chapters given in this corpus under "Unfinished [Schulz]" (work id neokonchennoe-shulc) she instead appears only at a remove, as the sender of a letter of greetings and complaints that Olga receives in Moscow.
