A simple, uneducated hierodeacon who dies suddenly during the Easter liturgy, not yet forty; unrecognized by the rest of the monastery, he possessed a rare, self-taught gift for composing akafisty of unusual beauty, read and loved by only one person, his friend Ieronim.
