A lady summering near Ivan Ivanych's dacha; the friend, delighted to learn Ivan Ivanych knows her, immediately saddles him with one more errand -- delivering her a sewing machine -- which is the last straw that sends Ivan Ivanych into his final outburst.

- A Tragedian in Spite of Himself §37 Olga Pavlovna Finberg
A dacha acquaintance of Murashkin's whom Tolkachov turns out to know -- the coincidence Murashkin seizes on to load Tolkachov with one final errand (a sewing machine and a caged canary), precipitating his breakdown at the play's climax. The identical figure and errand (sewing machine, delivered by the harried father) appear in "One of Many" (1887); entity reused rather than duplicated, since it is textually the same minor character carried over from the source story into its dramatization.
