A living former secretary of the office, since transferred to head a desk in the second department, who is mistaken by Zapoykin for the deceased and finds himself standing by a nearby monument listening to his own glowing, premature eulogy -- and then, at the end, complaining that its flattery is nothing but mockery applied to a living man.
