Tarnovskaya

also: Тарновская

A woman doctor whom Chekhov met at a dinner at Aivazovsky's estate, identified as the wife of a well-known professor (probably Veniamin Tarnovsky,, the prominent venereologist); Chekhov gives an unflattering physical description of her and jokes about striking her from the roll of physicians after talking with her.
