Volodya (Wagner's nephew)

Volodya

also: Володя

The "learned nephew" of the zoologist Nikolai Petrovich Wagner, referred to familiarly as Volodya; his aunts guard his wife's honor with comic, gendarme-like vigilance, per this letter's set piece. Not otherwise identified beyond the name and relation to Wagner -- distinct from the many other Volodyas in the corpus, including the unrelated fictional protagonist and Chekhov's own relative.
