Wanda (Nastasya Kanavkina)

A demimonde woman -- registered under her legal name Nastasya Kanavkina but known socially as Wanda -- discharged from the hospital penniless and without lodging; she pawns her one piece of jewelry and, unable to find a man she knows out in the evening, calls on the dentist Finkel intending to beg a loan, but loses her nerve and has a healthy tooth extracted instead. She reappears fully restored to her 'Wanda' persona, newly outfitted and dancing at the Renaissance, the following night.
