A son of the Lintvaryova family (referred to with the masculine pronoun "он"), asked here whether he called on Barantsevich in Petersburg and passed along a copy of Chekhov's "In the Twilight". Distinct from Elena Mikhailovna Lintvaryova, the daughter addressed directly in, despite the shared initials "E./Ye. M." Which of the two documented Lintvaryov sons -- Georgy (the pianist) or Pavel Mikhailovich (the farmer), per the family portrait in the headnote to -- this is has not been resolved from this letter alone; left as an open identification rather than merged with either sibling entity.
