person
Zakhar Ilyich
also: Захар Ильич
FICTIONAL CHARACTER in Chekhov's one-act "Tatyana Repina" (1889), a wedding guest addressed by name and patronymic only once (\S146, "We could use singers like that, Zakhar Ilyich!"); the gruff reply that follows in the source is unattributed and not confirmed to be his. Distinct from, an unrelated character in the separate story "Liberal Dushka" who happens to share the same name and patronymic -- the two must not be conflated.
