Zonenstein

also: Зоненштейн

FICTIONAL CHARACTER in Chekhov's one-act "Tatyana Repina" (1889), named only once as the addressee of a stage direction (\S19, "To Zonenstein") just before a guest remarks that the crowning is about to begin; never confirmed to speak on-page under this name in the surviving, speaker-markup-stripped source. Possibly an echo of the name of a real theatrical acquaintance of Chekhov's from the same year, but no evidence ties the two beyond the shared surname, so they are NOT merged.
