The real railway station in Nizhny Novgorod province that Chekhov's friend and famine-relief partner Yevgraf Petrovich Yegorov actually used -- established in (3 January 1892) as the correction of "Bogoyavlenskoye Station", the nonexistent station Chekhov had mistakenly been addressing his correspondence and money packets to since, causing weeks of unexplained silence from Yegorov.

The correct station name, established here for the first time in the corpus: not \"Bogoyavlenskoye\", the nonexistent station Chekhov had been addressing his letters to since, but \"Bogoyavlenye,\" in Nizhny Novgorod province, near Yegorov's own post. Chekhov asks Yegorov to inquire after the misdirected mail at this correct address and to write back confirming its arrival.
