The Bozharov Pool

Bozharov pool

also: Божаровский омут, Bozharovsky pool

A deep pool or backwater (омут) evidently associated with Maria Vladimirovna Kiseleva's Babkino estate or its surrounding country -- a shared point of reference between her and Chekhov. Waiting out a storm in a ferrymen's hut on the Irtysh, Chekhov writes Kiseleva a letter (the companion letter) and notes that "the Bozharov pool came back to me", a private association not otherwise glossed in the correspondence.
