A village in Bobrov district, Voronezh province, near; invoked here only as a distance comparison -- Chekhov describes the forest road from the Lopasnya-area station to the new Melikhovo estate as roughly the same length as the road between Bobrov and Korshevo, a stretch he had just traveled during his February 1892 famine-relief trip through Voronezh province.
