An ornate apartment building on Liteiny Prospekt in Petersburg, built in the 1870s in a Moorish-revival style for Prince Alexander Muruzi; a well-known address that housed a number of writers and intellectuals, including, at this date, Dmitry Merezhkovsky.

The Muruzi house (dom Muruzi), an ornate apartment building on the Liteiny Prospekt in Petersburg built in the 1870s for Prince Alexander Muruzi, whose exotic Moorish-revival facade made it a local landmark; it housed a number of writers and intellectuals over the following decades (later, in the Soviet period, it was home to the poet Joseph Brodsky). Here it is simply Merezhkovsky's Petersburg residence, invoked to place him mid-reverie in his "lofty searchings."
